Apple patent digital media sharing during iPhone calls
Apple patented a new system for inserting media into an ongoing phonecall, enabling iPhone owners to share music, video, image, voicemail or podcasts during conversation. So, by using the application, you don't need to end your conversation and then email a multimedia file as an attachment.Once shared, the media file could be controlled - ideal for those “listen to this bit, you’ll love it” moments - and the conversation could be continued while the media plays. Alternatively Apple tips future video calling capabilities for the iPhone, with the system allowing for two concurrent video streams: one for the conversation, and one for shared video footage.
Another possibility is the introduction of an invitation system, whereby one user could invite another to join them in watching a video - such as a YouTube clip - or listen to a specific audio file. Users who have had files shared with them would be able to control them from their own handset for as long as the share continues, skipping through their friend’s library.
Quickoffice updates its iPhone apps
Quickoffice recently added important capabilities for its iPhone applications -- which include Quickoffice Mobile Office Suite, Quicksheet, Quickword and Quickoffice Files. The updates to the separate applications are expected to be available on the App Store soon.Quicksheet enables users to view and edit Excel documents; now allows landscape editing, direct double-tap cell editing, copy and paste columns, rows and cells, as well as the ability to add a new sheet within a worksheet.
The Word editor Quickword adds auto-correct, auto-capitalization, find text, adjusting indentation level of bulleted lists and paragraphs, and double tapping space bar to enter a period. Quickoffice Files enables users to enjoy slideshow viewing of images in remote and local directories and the ability to bookmark last viewed position in documents.
New iPhone Videohas “lots of added features”, Mossberg says
Walt Mossberg --the world's oldest Apple fanboy," wrote an Engadget reader-- gives us another clue on his article about Palm Pre about a new, improved iPhone Video that is expected to be announced on June 8.Mossberg is widely regarded as one of the most influential writers on information technology --Wired called him "The Kingmaker". He created the Journal's annual D: All Things Digital conference, in which top technology leaders, such as Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, appear on stage.

WSJ releases free iPhone application
Wall Street Journal has launched an iPhone app for free [iTunes link], while their web version costs $103 per year, even on Amazon's Kindle the Journal is $9.99 a month. (The similar app, but for the BlackBerry, has been released last August.)A bit late jumped on the mobile content bandwagon (since brand-name news including Bloomberg, NYT, CNN and AP have joined the iPhone apps recently), you will find every page in the new iPhone app is underlined with a prominent. Since it's free and its content is worth reading, I think it's quite fair.
MobileMe Gives the thumbs up
Improvements now see Apple's MobileMe Web service worthy of checking out. The Wall Street Journal's Walt Mossberg now feels it worthy of a recommendation.Mossberg, whose opinion can make or break a product or service, has revisited his earlier take on the MobileMe service, which got off to a disastrous start when it was launched last summer. Previously, Mossberg told readers to stay away from the product although recently gave it another look over. Through the process of developing the product, Apple did apologize for rushing the launch. Issues mainly pointed towards launching at the same time as the release of iPhone 3G, the App Store and the iPhone 2.0 software.Mossberg said that "Apple has fixed all of the speed and reliability issues I encountered last year, " even if Outlook data syncing between Windows PCs and Macs is still an issue. MobileMe is an important service for Apple, as it gives those wary about switching completely to the Mac a way to stay tethered to Windows. The app also improves the usability of the iPhone. MobileMe lets Mac or Windows users sync their contacts, calendar info and e-mail across Macs, PCs, and iPhones for $99 a year.
